Through August

There continues to be an emergency need for donors of all blood types, especially type O, to give now to address a severe blood shortage. Red Cross blood donations are being distributed to hospitals faster than they are coming in, and right now there is less than a five-day blood supply on hand. All eligible donors are urgently needed to give now to help replenish the blood supply. Make an appointment to donate blood by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).


August 16th-18th Thursday-Saturday

Long Lake Lutheran Church will host their Community Garage Sale Thursday and Friday from 9a-7p and Saturday from 9a-noon. Saturday will be ½ off with a bag day. Lunch will be available. Plus a bake sale with many homemade items. Everyone is welcome.


August 19th Sunday

Stanfold Lutheran Church  invites everyone to join them for their annual church picnic on Sunday starting at 11a. Come enjoy grilled brats and hot dogs, face painting, a bounce house, and live music with the Kormann Family at no charge. The church is located 5 miles west of Rice Lake on Highway 48.


August 19th Sunday

The Friends of the Wiesner Community Chapel will host their Friends & Family Reunion on Sunday starting at 11a. Please bring a dish to pass, a chair, and an auction item. Plates, utensils, and beverages provided.


August 21st Tuesday

The Barron Chambers 6th Annual Music in the Park, in conjunction with Business & Industry Appreciation Day, concludes Tuesday at 6p with R Country Gals. The event is rain or shine. Bring your own lawn chair. Food served by Barron Federated Music Club starting at 6:30p. There is no charge for the concert.


August 21st-23rd Tuesday-Thursday

Harry Potter fans entering grades 4-10, you can attend Wizarding Academy at UW-Eau Claire-Barron County in Rice Lake. Get Sorted into your House, play muggle Quidditch, test your Harry Potter knowledge with trivia and quizzes, receive OWL post from your favorite Harry Potter characters, and compete for the House Cup-earn points by solving clues and riddles that will test your wits and logic! The $149 fee includes lunches, t-shirt, wand and wizarding supplies. The Wizarding Academy runs Tuesday-Thursday from 9a-4p.


August 22nd Wednesday

The American Legion Burger Night is on Wednesday from 5p-7p at the Rice Lake Veterans Center. Menu includes burgers, wings, shrimp, fries, and onion rings. The bar opens at 4p daily. The public is always welcome.


August 27th Monday

The Rice Lake Public Library will host “Genealogy Rocks! Getting Started on YOUR family history” with Gloria Dobberfuhl from the Blue Hills Genealogical Society at 2:00pm.  Whether you're just beginning or have been working on your family history for a while come learn tips, and helpful ideas that can help you move along in your search.


September 1st Saturday

The 14th annual Clayton Fire Department & Friends Tractors, Trucks, & Semis Benefit Pull is on Saturday starting at noon. Registration begins at 11a. $20 entry to pull. Free will donation to watch. Food and beverages on the grounds. Plus kids activities, a large silent auction, live auction, gun raffle, and 50/50 raffle. Tractors start at noon. Trucks start at 7p.  


September 2nd Sunday

The American Legion Breakfast Buffet is Sunday from 8a-11a at the Rice Lake Veterans Center. All you care to eat biscuits & gravy, pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, and more. The public is always welcome.


September 7th Friday

Early bird registration ends on Friday for the inaugural Running the Edge 5K Trail Run/Walk and Half Mile Kiddie Fun Run on Saturday September 22nd at Nature’s Edge Therapy Center. If you register by Friday you can save $5 on the $30 registration fee and you’ll receive a race t-shirt and swag bag. The event will be held rain or shine with prizes for the fastest times. September 7th-9th Friday-Sunday

The 13th Annual Bluegrass Festival will be held at the Pioneer Village historical park Friday-Sunday. This year features internationally known Tommy Brown and the County Line Grass in addition to 10 other local bluegrass bands. Come enjoy bluegrass music, arts & crafts, beer & wine. Gate fee is $10 Friday, $15 Saturday, and $10 Sunday or $30 for the weekend. Rough camping available. Call 715-458-0181 for more info.
