16 Year Old Dies in Single Vehicle Crash (with Update)

Friday afternoon at about 3:30pm, the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash in the 400 block of State Highway 35, in the Town of Troy.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada was northbound on STH 35 when the vehicle left the roadway on the median side, and rolled several times.  The driver, a 16 year old female, was ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.  No one else was in the vehicle. 

The female was not wearing a seatbelt. 

The driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.  

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office. 

This is the 5th traffic fatality in St. Croix County in 2016.


UPDATE, SUNDAY:

A 16-year-old girl from Beldenville was killed when her vehicle rolled several times on STH 35 in the Town of Troy, St. Croix County.

According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office, Kyra F. Hayes, of Beldenville, was traveling north on Hwy. 35 on Friday. Just before 3:30 p.m. her vehicle went into the median and rolled several times. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. Hayes was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office. 

This is the 5th traffic fatality in St. Croix County in 2016.
