Investigators Looking Into Fatal Vehicle-Train Crash

Investigators are looking into a fatal vehicle versus train crash yesterday in Dunn County.  

Just after 315am Monday morning, Dunn County authorities received a report of a pickup truck struck by a train at the railroad crossing at County Highway S near the intersection of State Highway 170. 

Dunn County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with first responders and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene. 

The male driver, of rural Wheeler, was the lone occupant in the vehicle and was was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police say it appears that the pickup truck was stopped on the tracks facing north-bound on County Highway when the train came and hit the vehicle. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the Canadian National Railroad Police. 

The name of the deceased has not been released pending family notification.
